Wiener Energy of the 19th century (the “Golden Age”) was brilliantly revived with select works of Schubert under the theme of Schubert in Vienna.
The 2008 festival aimed to bring Schubert and his era back to life, focusing on the following perspectives: a comprehensive overview of Schubert’s masterworks, works by composers who influenced Schubert, works by composers who lived in his era, works by composers who handed Schubert’s works down to posterity, arrangements by composers of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, Japanese premieres of works dedicated to Schubert by contemporary composers.
