Theme of 2014
This year marks the 10th edition of the classical music festival La Folle Journée au Japon (LFJ), making LFJ 2014 an extra-special event worth celebrating.
With the theme of “A Day of 10th Anniversary Celebration,” the festival is bringing together 10 composers at the Tokyo International Forum who have enraptured audiences at past LFJ festivals Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Dvorak, Ravel, and Gershwin! In addition, the LFJ will offer works by contemporaries intimately linked with these composers, from Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky to Liszt and Chopin, as well as appearances by surprise guests. The biggest names in classical music will all be represented to kick off an exceptional LFJ befitting the 10th anniversary celebration.
Over three days, LFJ 2014 will cover the course of classical music from the 17th to the 20th centuries. The exciting program features a number of universally loved masterpieces as well as special concerts unique to LFJ. Previously unrealized connections underlying the music will be revealed, such as composers’ influence on each other that served as inspiration and produced works transcending classical music genres.
Impassioned performances are a part of every LFJ and this year is no exception. The celebratory performances of established LFJ performers and up-and-coming artists appearing for the first time are a must see.
This 10th edition of the LFJ promises to be the most special musical journey yet. An exciting “Day of Celebration” awaits.
We look forward to seeing you there!
